You are the Imposter! Let us introduce you to the new game taking social media by storm. Normally, our phones stop us from socializing, but it seems that this new game is fit to play over and over again and will guarantee you some laughs.
Imposter is a word game which has been becoming very popular over the last few months on social media platform TikTok. The game is easy but can provide hours of fun, whether you are with friends or family and is good for all ages.
In a nutshell, the game insists on guessing who out of your group is the Imposter. Everyone in the group will be shown a word except one person. Everyone will have to then say words related to the word they have been given, for example, if your word is beach, you could say summer, sea, paddleboarding… The idea is that the Imposter has to try and guess what word it is by giving a convincing word themself without raising suspicion. The game finishes if the Imposter guesses the word (says it out loud and exposes themselves) or after a couple of rounds and you all agree you are ready who to vote for.
There are many Imposter apps, one is Imposter Who? You key in everybody’s name and pass around the phone so everyone can reveal the word to themselves, and the app will decide who will be the Imposter. The game went viral on TikTok, as people started playing on it and the hilarious reactions, words and competitiveness had viewers hooked. The game is very popular in both Spain and the UK.
There are different ways of playing, you can have more than one imposter or you can include a tip so that the Imposter isn’t as lost in the beginning. After playing a few times, you can get a bit more creative and distant with your words with the hope it is harder for the Imposter to guess the word.
