Have you ever heard of the art of tufting? Described as the colour by numbers of carpet making, this unusual craft is rising in popularity.
Tufting is the art of making carpet designs. You draw a design, pick your colours and weave the yard through your design. You can make these into cushions, rugs or even just frame them. The colourful craft is done on industry level but has become increasingly popular amongst individuals as a hobby or as small local businesses.

It’s true that fashions come back, as tufting has been floating around for hundreds of century’s. Tufting originally dates back to ancient times, early artisans used to thread yarn through leather to make blankets and warmth. During the industrial revolution, tufting machines were invented and became the most common way of making carpets, as it was quicker and cheaper. In 1930, Georgia in the US became the tufting capital, and shot tufted carpets into dominating the industry.

Fast forward to our modern day, and small tufting guns have been created to use at home and it has become a social media trend for those who love arts and crafts.
